Pascale Mussard

Pascale Mussard began her career in the world of creation, working in the style office of Nicole de Vésian, whom she followed to Hermès in 1978 as Head of Fabric and Accessories Purchasing for women’s ready-to-wear. She subsequently became Press Officer, before taking on responsibility for
Advertising and Public Relations. She later created and led the Exhibitions Department for six years and curated the window displays across the French retail network. In 2002, she was appointed Artistic Director working alongside Jean-Louis Dumas. In 2006, she became Co–Artistic Director of
Hermès together with Pierre-Alexis Dumas. In 2010, Pascale Mussard conceived a new role within Hermès: petit h. This “Laboratory” brings together, within a single workshop, all unused materials
(referred to by some as “waste,” by petit h artisans as “sleeping materials,” and by Pascale Mussard as “treasures”) and the savoir-faire of Hermès and its group companies—such as Puiforcat and Cristalleries de Saint-Louis—making them available to artists for a unique creative process. Each
season, she developed collections like a gardener tending a nursery, nurturing talents and cultivating singular, unexpected objects. Through an ongoing dialogue with artisans and creators, she ensured the coherence of the Hermès spirit. Innovating while drawing from the very origins of
the house’s heritage, and experimenting in order to constantly reinvent, characterizes Pascale Mussard’s approach. In 2018, she handed over leadership to Godefroy de Virieu.
After 40 years dedicated to craftsmanship and creation at Hermès and petit h, Pascale Mussard now focuses on various foundations and associations.

She currently holds the following positions:

• Vice-President of the Fondation d’Entreprise Hermès, which creates the conditions necessary to produce works, transmit know-how, protect the environment, and encourage solidarity initiatives.

• President of the Villa Noailles association, which promotes creative practices (fashion, design, photography, interior architecture, architecture) and education (workshops for children).

• Member of the Board of IE University in Madrid, which supports education in architecture and design.

• Member of the Heroes Committee of the Institut Imagine, which organizes event to raise awareness of the Institute and fund research into genetic diseases.

• Member of the Board of the Fondation Vilebrequin, which works to protect marine biodiversity, safeguard oceans, promote education, and support responsible fashion.
