Aitor Throup is an Argentinian-British designer and conceptual artist who continuously challenges the conventions and limits of fashion. His globally acclaimed multi-disciplinary work defies categorisation by integrating themes of anatomy and philosophy into highly technical garments with rich, lavered narratives.
Throup’s innovative and cerebral output strives for deep meaning and timeless beauty by merging clothing design, engineering, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, cinematography, CGI, graphic design and music into an ever-expanding, immersive world of fantastical characters and product innovations rich in symbolism.
Besides his own projects, Throup’s prolific portfolio includes collaborations with Stone Island, C.P. Company, Umbro, costume designs for The Hunger Games films, football kit designs for the England national football team; and being the creative director for British rock band Kasabian as well as the polymath musician Damon Albarn.
Aitor Throup stepped down from his position as Executive Creative Director at G-Star RAW in 2018. He had been previously appointed as the Innovation Director of the global denim brand. Throup is currently working towards the launch of his first ever RTW brand, scheduled for release in 2025.
